Helpful Tech Information

Update your device right now
Just about everything will work better if your device is updated to the latest operating system:

Chromebook: Snowman Menu (three dots on top of each other, top right of the screen) > Help > About Google Chrome. This opens a new window where you will see Google look for the latest update OR a Relaunch button. Click relaunch when it says. It may log you out, but when you come back, you'll be all up to date!

iPad
: Settings > General > Software Update. It will download, you can use the device during this time. Then it will install. Plug it in. You will see a white apple and a progress bar on a black screen. You cannot use your iPad during this time, so plan ahead. When it comes back you will be up to date!

Multi-Task on an iPad
You can do this! You can watch your class on one half of the screen and do your work on the other half of the screen all without dropping your Google Meet session! Here is how...

Digital Navigator
RRSEC is collaborating with the The East Central Minnesota Education Cable Cooperative (ECMECC) to provide understanding and guidance in the area of home WiFi. This is not free WiFi. Digital Navigator is a way for us to supply you with the contact numbers to the major carriers in your area, coverage maps, promotional information and general support and follow through to get you connected to the internet. Some schools in the area ARE offering temporary WiFi hotspots that run off of a cellular signal, but this is not the norm. WiFi and its financial burden is the responsibility of each household.

Having said that, the goal is 100% coverage. Every household with some sort of WiFi signal in the Rum River Community. You may have reached out to Midco, Century Link or Frontier before and not had much luck or deemed it too expensive. Rum River's Digital Navigator is here to make sure that this is still the fact.

If you have zero Internet or would like to see about improving your WiFi signal, please use the above portal and say that you would like to be considered for the Digital Navigator program. Leave your name and contact information in the ticket and someone will reach out to you.
