English Language Learners (ELL)

English Language Learners (ELL) are students that are learning the English language on top of everything else a school can throw at a student in a day. But what if an ELL student also has a learning disability? Could there be any difficulties in prescribing the disability? Could language be impeding their learning? Could there be ELL students in your SPED program that do not require SPED services? Where is the line drawn between the two? It is our hope that the compilation of links below help guide you in your search for answers.

The first link is from "¡Colorín Colorado!" This phrase has nothing to do with the state and everything to do with a Spanish phrase that is loosely translated, "That's all folks!" Definitely worth your time if you need help with identification of SPED in ELLs, what research says about SPED students learning two languages, and even some helpful quick videos.
